Medlock Day: May 7th 12-4pm
- Medlock Elementary School
MANA (Medlock Area Neighborhood Association) is sponsoring a celebration of Medlock Elementary school.
As you may know, Medlock Elementary School—located in the neighborhood across Scott Blvd from our church building– will be closing as part of the Dekalb County school redistricting. Thus, this time of celebration is an important time of honoring the impact Medlock School has made on our community.
This event features fun, food, games, photos, scrapbooks, & stories. Supporters, volunteers, former and current students and teachers are encouraged to come out and say good-bye to Medlock school. If you have old newspaper clippings, photos, or other forms of memories of Medlock School, please let me, Matt Rich, know so I can pass that along to MANA organizers. They want to gather as many as possible to share in the collective remembering and celebrating of Medlock School!
This is a big deal for our neighborhood and we need, as a church family, to support our neighborhood as many grieve, say goodbye, but also look hopefully into the future. I was encouraged by the number of people who attended and even joined the neighborhood association meeting last month. Let’s support that neighborhood enthusiasm with our presence on May 7th !
